philly bands - 1980's +

DIY (do it yourself)

There were a lot of great philly bands in the 1980 - 1990's. There was a vibrant punk / ska / hardcore / rap scene that was full of people willing to make shows happen, whether playing in basements, Rodman Street block parties, dive-y clubs, warehouses - whatever.

Here are a few names (and links) to those bands - maybe a little blurb, if I can find the time to write about it.

If anything, I'd just like people to remember there were a lot of folks that had artistic vision, as well as rock-n-roll ambitions - and the philly scene was an important place in the nation's underground music scene, both in terms of venues and musicians.
